Adult Emergency medicine is a medical specialty that equips physicians (called emergency specialists) with the knowledge and skills required to care for adult patients with very urgent healthcare needs.
It is a field of practice based on the knowledge and skills required for the prevention, diagnosis and management of acute and urgent aspects of illness and injury affecting patients of all age groups with a full spectrum of undifferentiated physical and behavioural disorders.
Emergency physicians provide a high level of emergency care for acutely ill and injured patients of all ages. They also work outside the emergency department, in clinics and community health centres.
If the condition is life or limb threatening, you may need to go straight to the hospital.
